President Hassan Rouhani received Thailand's new Ambassador to Tehran Kallayana Vipattipumiprates on Tuesday, and said that the two countries' relation are in the path of progress.

During the meeting, President Rouhani said that Iran and Thailand have good agreements to expand and deepen cooperation in the fields of energy, industry and agriculture, which by the execution of the agreements and active participation of private and public sectors, relations would be developed more than past.

President Rouhani pointed to four centuries of mutual relations between the two countries and added that Tehran welcomes expansion of cooperation in all fields with Bangkok.

Following the implementation of the JCPOA and elimination of sanctions good opportunity emerged for the expansion of ties, which Iran hopes will lead to promotion of ties level in economic and cultural relations between Tehran and Bangkok, Rouhani said.

President Rouhani also called as important the implementation of the agreements which were signed during his visit to Thailand last year aimed at creating a move in bilateral ties.

The new Thai Ambassador Kallayana Vipattipumiprates submitted his credentials to President Rouhani in the meeting.

He called bilateral relations between the two countries close and friendly and stressed that JCPOA created new opportunities for expansion of relations.

The new envoy said that Thailand is interested to expand ties with Iran in different fields of energy, trade, food and agricultural products and tourism.

He pointed to preferential trade agreement, which is to be signed soon, and expressed hope that the agreement will lead to promotion of economic and commercial relations between Iran and Thailand.
