Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed on Saturday the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in all spheres between Iran and Finland.

'Further political, cultural and economic relations between Tehran and Helsinki are necessary,' President Rouhani said during a meeting in Tehran with new Finnish Ambassador to Iran Keijo Norvanto.

Cooperation between Iran and Finland remain to be positive and growing, the Iranian President said while receiving the credentials of Norvanto.

It is also important for the two nations to increase their scientific and technological engagements, the Iranian President added.

Rouhani said that Iran and Finland can further bilateral ties in areas like tourism and industry as well.

Iran welcomes presence of the Finnish businessmen and investors in the country, he said.

For his part, Norvanto said that he was proud to be in Iran as the ambassador to his country.

Helsinki and Tehran have exchanged delegations in recent years and this shows that their cooperation is growing.

He also called for implementation of mutual agreements already signed between the two countries.
