Iran's intelligence ministry in a statement on Sunday announced that its forces have seized some 2.5 tons of narcotics from one of the international drug trafficking networks in Sistan-Baluchestan province.

The drug traffickers were near Iran and Pakistan borderline, the statement said.

The traffickers exchanged fire with security forces, but their drug consignment was seized, it added.

The security forces also confiscated three vehicles and one satellite cell phone, the statement further said.
