Talking to reporters in Damascus on Monday after a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Emad Khamis, he added that Saudi Arabia is hatching a plot in every corner of the Arab or Islamic world each day, which will make the country isolated in the Muslim and Arab world.
'Such measures are not advisable for their country,' he said, advising them to think of their own country and interests and not to meddle in other countries’ affairs.
Hailing his meeting with the Syrian prime minister, Velayati said that Iran-Syria relations should be further strengthened.
'Frist Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri will visit Damascus for talks with the country’s senior officials on political, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation,' Velayati said.
The official praised Iran-Syria ties as 'deep-rooted and historic', saying, “We are optimistic about future of the relations.”
Describing bilateral ties as strategic, he said that it was thanks to these relations that the two countries have been able to fight against the enemies.
Syrian deputy foreign minister Faysal al-Meqdad, also said that more attempts should be made to promote economic relations in line with the two countries’ interests.
“We have common enemies and we are standing by each other in the fight against terrorism and we are sure that we will emerge victorious together,” he said.
Resistance movement marks a new victory against the enemies and aggressors each day, al-Meqdadi said.
Velayati arrived in Syria after his trip to Lebanon, where he held talks with President Michel Aoun, Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri (before his resignation), Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Foreign Minister Jibran Basil and Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
