Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Wednesday that Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is to leave Tehran for Rome on Thursday to attend the third international forum on Mediterranean dialogue.

The topic of the agenda of the forum will be common security, common prosperity, immigration, culture and civil society, he said.

The visit takes place upon official initiation extended by Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano, he said, adding that the Iranian foreign minister is to deliver a keynote speech in the forum.

After the forum in Rome, Zarif is to travel to Baku to attend the international conference on Heart of Asia, he said.

The 7th Ministerial Conference will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan under the theme “Security and Economic Connectivity towards a Strengthened Heart of Asia Region” on November 30-December 1, 2017.

The conference is to focus on current developments in Afghanistan to examine avenue for expansion of regional cooperation to help bolster peace and welfare in the region, he said.

The Heart of Asia conference comprises some 14 member-states, 17 supportive countries and some 12 sponsors.
