Legal Medicine Organization of Kermanshah Province announced on Sunday that the death toll of the powerful earthquake in the Iranian western province has risen to 521.

Director General of the organization Artin Kamali told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that according to the latest data on the death toll of the deadly earthquake, most of those who died in the disaster (460) were from Sar Pol-e-Zahab border city.

The forensic team that was formed from the early hours of the quake to identify the dead bodies has nearly finished its task, the official said.

Two hospitals and more than 200 health clinics in the region were damaged by the quake.

Previous report of the organization had declared the number of victims at 505.

In the 7.3-magnitude quake that hit Kermanshah Province near the border with Iraq on November 12 hundreds of people were also injured.
