In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation in Moscow, he added, “We have held many meetings in the past and this is very important and we are happy that the two countries’ presidents visited each other’s countries earlier.”
Noting that implementation of JCPOA is very significant, Lavrov said that the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also verified Iran’s compliance with the deal.
“We will support implementation of JCPOA non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,” he said.
Referring to upward trend of Tehran-Moscow cooperation, he said that collaboration between the foreign ministries, UN Security Council and other ministries of the two countries is underway.
There are many issues on the two countries’ cooperation agenda including regional developments, Lavrov said.
Noting that arrangements for holding Iran-Russia-Turkey summit in Sochi have been prepared earlier, he said that earlier meetings in Astana over the past year to discuss Syrian crisis were constructive.
The Russian top diplomat said that meeting of Iran-Russia Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation will be held in early February.
