Iran asks Japan, South Korea to participate in fire fight operations

Politics - President Rouhani's special envoy and head of committee to investigate Sanchi oil tanker Ali Rabiei announced on Saturday that he has asked Japan and South Korea to participate in the fire extinguishing operation.

Rabiei told IRNA that the Iranian rescue and relief team should be on board on Sunday to determine the situation.

He said that the Japanese are ready for cooperation, adding, 'Today we asked South Korean for help.'

Rabiei said that we need 5,000 tons foam, which should be prepared, and need two vessels for cooling tonight to prepare situations on Sunday.

Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei arrived in Shanghai on Saturday to follow up the latest situation of the ablaze oil tanker.

An Iranian oil tanker carrying 136,000 tons of gas condensates for South Korea after colliding with a cargo ship on January 6, 2018 caught fire.

The tanker had 32 crews, two of them from Bangladesh and the rest of them Iranians.
