Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that Europe should put pressure on the US to remain committed to its pledges with regards to implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Tehran on Monday.

During the meeting, both foreign ministers called for expansion of mutual cooperation, sound implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the US disloyalty, regional developments mainly in Syria and Yemen.

Referring to the principled stances adopted by France in dealing with the JCPOA, Zarif criticized allegations made by some European officials in relation to implementation of the JCPOA and their leniency to the US pressures.

Ten consecutive reports issued by the IAEA testifies that Iran has been fully committed to its pledges with regards to its peaceful nuclear program, Zarif said, adding that presently 'we are target of US illogical conspiracies but we believe that Europe can plan a very prominent role' in preserving such great achievements.

Preserving this international diplomatic achievement should be important to all sides and mere oral supports will not suffice, he said.

If the international community mind to satisfy one side to remain committed to nuclear accord, this should be Iran and not the US as the US not only remained disloyal to its pledges but they prevent Europe to remain committed to its pledges, Zarif said.

Visiting French foreign minister, for his part, said Paris believes the JCPOA should be fully implemented and for the same reason it has invested in Iran's automobile industry and energy as well as setting up joint venture investment opportunities for both sides projects.

Europe and France in particular are committed to sound implementation of the JCPOA despite of mounting pressures from the US, he said.

'We have taken some good measures on expansion of banking cooperation and investment of French companies in the post JCPOA era has increased dramatically and relative export guarantees and opening of letter of credits are good indication to such claims,' he said.

The two ministers also discussed latest regional and global developments mainly those in Syria and Yemen.
Unfortunately, some countries are not eager to help resolve regional crisis through political means, but 'we believe that Europe can persuade its freidnds in the region' to resolve their disputes through political means, Zarif said.

If Europe is determined to put an end to human catastrophe in the region, they can exchange views and take advantage of Iran's comments but if they mind to satisfy or consent the US, if never enter to such play, Zarif said.

The US and other countries in the region who have turned the region to a gunpowder store should stop the move, he said.

Iran's military might is deterrent, Zarif said, adding that the bitter experience of the sacred defense (eight-years of war with Iraq) has taught us a lesson that we should only rely on ourselves to rely on our deterrent capabilities.
