Iranian government will not allow external shocks and internal media hype to damage its economic stability, First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Monday.

Jahangiri made the remarks speaking during a meeting of Resistance Economy's Command Headquarters.

The meeting was attended by ministers of petroleum, road and urban development, cooperatives, labor and social welfare, agricultural jihad, culture and Islamic guidance, defense and economic affairs and finance, as well as the head of Plan and Budget Organization and a number of other Iranian high-ranking officials.

Noting that the country's main economic indices last year showed that Iran enjoyed an acceptable stability, Jahangiri said that more serious efforts have yet to be made this year given the foreign threats facing the country.

Referring to naming the new Iranian calendar year by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the year of support for domestic commodities, the vice-president said that fighting against smuggling of commodities is one of the ways to provide support for the Iranian commodities.

He said that one of the government measures in line with the motto of the year is banning the imports of foreign commodities which are also made by domestic producers.
