High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said Iran nuclear deal is working.

“The deal we have in place now, the only existing deal for the moment is working. It’s been preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapon and commits Iran to not develop a nuclear weapon without limits because if you read the deal, the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] very carefully in the very beginning it says that Iran would not acquire a nuclear weapon,” Mogherini told reporters on Wednesday.

“The deal is working. President Macron [France President] stressed that yesterday in the White House very clearly that we believe that full implementation of the JCPOA is essential for European security and for the security of the region and the Europeans will stick to that,” she added.

Despite the EU's insistence that Iran nuclear deal shoud remain, the US administration has done a great deal over the past year to kill it.

President Trump is expected to announce his decision regarding suspending sanctions against Iran and continuing the implementation of the JCPOA on May 12.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has already confirmed ten times Iran's commitment to the landmark July 2015 international deal.
