Merkel made the remarks while speaking at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russian resort city of Suchi.
She said that Germany, Britain and France and all her colleagues in the European Union support JCPOA and will remain committed to the deal in the future.
'This agreement is not perfect, but it is better than no agreement, so it is necessary to continue talks with Iran,' the German chancellor said.
Merkel also voiced EU's insistence on continuing talks on Iran's ballistic missile program, what Tehran has repeatedly rejected.
Iran says its missile program is related to its defensive capability and defensive issues are not negotiable.
