The Chief Executive Officer of Iran Air Farzaneh Sharafbafi urged International Air Transport Association (IATA) to support Iran aviation industry against US sanctions threats.

Sharafbafi made the remarks Wednesday in a meeting with IATA Director General Alexandre de Juniac held on the sidelines of the 74th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit in Sydney.

During the meeting, Iran Air positions in security and stability fields were clarified for IATA managers.

In order not to be influenced by US sanctions, the IATA companies need time for developing cooperation with Iran Air and supporting it.

The US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran.

This is while most world powers including Russia, China, and the European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of world peace and security.

The IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit is the world's largest gathering of airline leaders. The 74th AGM, hosted by Qantas, brought 1000 industry leaders to Sydney on 3-5 June 2018.
