Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi said on Friday that if the European Union and other countries supporting Iran nuclear deal do not show their opposition in practice to US policies, the world and region will face a terrible future in case of JCPOA collapse.

Salehi, who is in Norway to attend Oslo meeting at the invitation of Norwegian officials, took part in the specialized panel on the Middle East held with Norwegian and Omani foreign ministers in attendance.

Iran’s foreign policy regarding its peaceful nuclear activities, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s Fatwa on prohibiting nuclear weapons, Iran’s need for nuclear energy in line with its development and progress, belief in win-win policy in talks and compliance with commitments were among major topics discussed by Salehi during the meeting.

Reiterating the wrong US policy and raising the issue of ‘zero enrichment’, he said that the statement is repetition of the wrong policies of the past.

He also contended that the JCPOA negotiations started after the US set aside the policy and changed its means.

Salehi also highlighted the global community’s harsh response to the US’ irrational and baseless decisions as totally evident.

During the meeting, Salehi also underlined the need for regional discourse among the major players, voicing Iran’s readiness for mutual understanding and solving regional crises through dialogue.

Other speakers also criticized US policies regarding the JCPOA and called for a suitable action on behalf of the EU and remaining countries in the deal.
