Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday that the US approach towards Iran, the region, the Muslim world and even its allies is doomed to failure.

'As to the illegal measures taken by the US, fortunately, the Iranian government and officials have contacted with various European countries, China, Russia, neighboring and major Asian countries, and nearly all of them who care about their independence and sovereignty, have responded positively; they say they will not surrender to the US internal laws,' Rouhani said after a meeting with the heads of Iran's other two branches of power—judicial and legislative.

He also expressed hope that the economic engagement between Iran and the world would continue, saying that the heads of the three branches of power have discussed possible solutions to steer through the stage with the least cost.

President Rouhani's remarks were a reference to the coming sanctions that the US has threatened to impose on the country in November. Washington's threat of sanctions came following its unilateral withdrawal from a nuclear deal it, along with other major world powers, signed with Iran in 2015.

The measure was taken despite several reports of the international nuclear watchdog on Iran's commitment to its nuclear obligations.

The Iranian president also said that the US sought to derail the Islamic Revolution by sending military advisors to implement a coup against Iranian people.

'They failed,' he said, 'since the reasoning of the US is illegal and in contradiction with the international law'.

No international entity, Rouhani said, would support it.

'The United Nation, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and all countries, except a few, oppose the US policies, plans and arguments,' he said.
