President Rouhani made the remarks while renewing allegiance with the late Imam Khomeini, Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at his Mausoleum in southern Tehran along with his cabinet members on the second day of Iran’s Government Week.

President Rouhani and his entourage visited Imam Khomeini’s shrine to pay tribute to the late leader of the Islamic Revolution. They were welcomed by Imam Khomeini’s grandson Hassan Khomeini who is the caretaker of the late Imam’s Mausoleum.

'Enemies are trying to undermine the Islamic Republic of Iran,' President Rouhani said during the ceremony, stressing the urgent need to renew allegiance with the late Imam Khomeini's aspirations.

Reiterating Imam Khomeini’s emphasis on maintaining national unity, President Rouhani said,'We are all together and will stand firmly against all conspiracies and plots hatched by enemies.'

“Restoring our unity, independence and spirit of resistance, we succeeded to foil efforts made by the Zionist lobby against Iran at the US Senate and the House of Representatives and we also successfully cleared the world public opinion from the accusations levelled against Iran by Washington at the United Nations Security Council,” President Rouhani said.

He stressed that Iran's leadership and its government have always been relying on the power of people to overcome hard times and plots made by enemies against the country.

Later in the day, President Rouhani and his cabinet members visited shrines of former Iranian President Mohammad Ali Rajaei and his Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar at Tehran’s cemetery Behesht-e Zahra which lies near Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum.

Rajaei and Bahonar were killed in a bombing at the Prime Minister Office on August 30, 1981 by the terrorist group of Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO).

Iranians commemorate memories of Rajaei and Bahonar each year through ceremonies which are held during the Government Week.
