Politics - Iranian and Russian presidents met on Friday afternoon and discussed issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Russian President Vladimir Putin conferred on latest regional and international developments, including the Syria crisis.

Rouhani and Putin also discussed bilateral ties and implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reached between Iran and world powers in 2015.

The meeting between Rouhani and Putin occurred on the sidelines of a summit of Iranian, Russian and Turkish presidents on Syria.

Kremlin sources declared on Wednesday that Putin is scheduled to meet Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as well.

Russian president and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Iran on Tuesday afternoon to attend a trilateral meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to discuss the Syria crisis.

Rouhani, Putin and Erdogan are to attend a meeting on Friday evening for exchange of views on fighting terrorism and establishing security in Syria.
