Pres. Raisi stresses need for enhancing Iraq-Iran ties

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has underlined the need for improving cooperation between Iraq and Iran in particular in energy, industrial, trade, financial and banking sectors.

President Raisi made the remarks in a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani Wednesday afternoon.

The Iranian chief executive congratulated the Iraqi premier on the occasion of birth anniversary of twelfth Shia Imam Mahdi, adding that the two nations of Iraq and Iran enjoy warm and historical ties, which have their roots in common culture, civilization and deep beliefs.

Raisi also reviewed the latest situation of economic cooperation between the two countries particularly the constructive agreements, which have been achieved during the recent visit by the Iraqi prime minister to Tehran.

The Iraqi premier, for his part, congratulated the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi to the Iranian government and people, noting that the Iraqi administration and society has been and will be thankful for Iranian brothers’ assistance, especially in Iraq’s hard days.
