Those encouraging, arming Saddam now worried about Iran's defense might: Spox

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said in reaction to Western governments' concerns, especially the United States and France, about Iran's progress and defense power, that the very same countries that encouraged and equipped Saddam Hussein to attack Iran are now the biggest exporters of weapons to the Middle East.

Western governments, especially the US and France, which played a key role in inciting and arming Saddam Hussein's regime for military aggression and missile attacks on defenseless cities of Iran and are at the top of arms exporters to the region, today express concern about Iran's progress and defense power, Kanaani wrote on his Twitter account on Friday.

He added that the West opposes "strong Iran".

Unveiling the fourth generation of Khorramshahr ballistic missile, named Kheibar, brought fear and anger to the United States.

Accordingly, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller reiterated, “Iran’s development and proliferation of ballistic missiles pose a serious threat to regional and international security.”
