Mehdi Safari told reporters on Monday that the meetings which will be held on the sidelines of the Summit will be a good chance for Iran to expand cooperation in various economic, political, and security fields.
Asked to comment on the chances of Iran’s membership in the bloc, he said that the BRICS member states have not declared their criteria for accepting new members to the group.
He however noted that “with the criteria and abilities we have, we can easily adapt ourselves to their criteria.”
Safari said that some 19 countries have so far asked for their membership in BRICS and Iran is one of the first countries that offered its demand for joining the bloc.
