Progress at Iran's Makran refinery project at 37% : Contractor

The executive director of the Makran petrochemical refinery project says the construction of the key facility, which is located in southeast Iran, has made some 37% of progress.

Hanif Majidi said on Monday that technology and equipment has been purchased for the project.

He expressed hope that a first phase of the refinery will become operational by the end of the Iranian calendar year 1405 (March 20, 2027).

“This petrochemical refinery will produce 14 types of products when it becomes operational, and its annual production capacity is more than 14 million tons, which can be exported since it is located on the sea coast,” said the contractor.

He further said that the petrochemical refinery will be able to process 300,000 barrels of crude per day.
