Deputy Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Company for operation affairs Mustafa Dawoodi said on Saturday that three rom of trains carrying containers have moved toward Tehran from China and the third one is to arrive here in next few days.

He said that two roms have already arrived in Iran and the third one is to arrive in next few days.

In order to develop international transit corridors, Railway Company has held wide range of negotiations with neighboring and regional countries, Dawoodi said, adding that the third train is coming from Xian province in west of China with 41 containers.

He said that usually these trains take 14 to 15 days to enter Iran.

Dawoodi added that in this direction multilateral agreements were signed by China, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

Currently, cargo train is working in China-Tehran route, but IRI Railways intends to transit part of cargos from China to Europe from this route in next steps.

The official said that distance from China to Tehran is around 10,297 kilometers and it is expected that cargo trains pass it in 14 or 15 days.

Carrying cargos by ships between Iran and China takes more than 45 days.
