Terrorism and its roots, including Takfiri thought, backed by some countries has threatened the entire region with crisis, the secretary of Iran's national security body said Monday.

Ali Shamkhani Secretary of Iran's National Security Council in a meeting with Azerbaijan's Interior Minister Ramil Usubov emphasized the importance of investigation into the foreign support for the recent terrorist attack in the southwestern city of Ahvaz.

The terrorist attack targeted Saturday a military parade and the civilian bystanders in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. At least 25 people, including children and women, were killed and some 60 people were injured by the terrorists.

A group, calling itself al-Ahwazieh, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Denouncing the attempts by the US and the Zionist regime of Israel to divide neighbor countries, Shamkhani urged vigilance and constructive interactions and dialogue for thwarting the ill attempts for spreading skepticism and division among the countries of the region.

He also described the common border between Iran and Azerbaijan as the border of peace and security, and stressed that the ground for leapfrog in bilateral relations, particularly in economic sector has been prepared.

The Azeri minister also condemned the terrorist attack and offered condolences.

Describing the dialogues with Iranian officials as constructive, he said, 'Republic of Azerbaijan is willing to increase interactions and cooperation with Iran, and welcomes initiatives and suggestions with this regard.'

The minister also expressed his country's eagerness to benefit from Iran's experience in dealing with possible terrorist threats.
