The work of Iranian director Behrouz Nooranipour was awarded in competition section of the festival for portraying the horror created by the presence of Daesh terrorist group in Iraqi Kurdistan region.
It narrates the story of the captivity of over 4,000 refugee women who could not join their families on the other side of the borders and had to make hard decisions amid crisis.
The 29th edition of SGIFF was held in Singapore on November 28-December 9.
‘Dayan’ will be displayed in the Indian Chennai International Film Festival (December 13-20) and the Tertio Millennio Film Festival (December 12-16) in Italy.
