Syrian President Bashar al-Assad described as important efforts by friendly countries such as Iran and Russia to stop Western interference in the his country's political process.

According to the Syrian official news agency (SANA), the Syrian president met on Sunday evening with senior advisor to the Iranian foreign minister for political affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari to discuss the latest developments in Syria and the region. 

Assad appreciated Iran's efforts to establish a committee to review Syria's constitution despite all obstacles created by the countries sponsoring terrorism.

The Syrian president reiterated that his people should determine Syria's political process without any external interference.

On the other hand, Jaberi Ansari provided information on preparations carried out to hold a meeting among Syria ceasefire guarantors scheduled for December 17 and 18 in Geneva.
