Over 1.5 tons of drugs discovered in South Khorasan

South Khorasan province Police Chief announced that a sum of 1,820 kilograms of illicit drugs have been discovered in Dihuk and Nehbandan regions over past 48 hours.

Speaking on the sidelines of governor's attending a ceremony held on discovered drugs by South Khorasan police over the past 48 hours on Saturday, Brigadier General Majid Shoja noted that 1,120 kilograms of suspected heroin drugs were discovered in the past 24 hours, in which three cars and three persons also arrested. 

Over the past 48 hours, 50 drug traffickers were arrested during the six operations in the province and 13 vehicles were seized.

He said that the province is the forefront of the fight against narcotics in eastern Iran, noting that law enforcement forces are always trying to secure the security of the people throughout the country and prevent the transfer of narcotics to the country. 

South Khorasan police chief added that since the beginning of this year, 30 tons of drugs have been discovered in the province. 

He also noted that 4,000 people were arrested, 130 heavy vehicles and 680 light vehicles and 74 motorcycles of smugglers were discovered.
