Iran's Zarif arrives in Iraqi Kurdistan Region for official visit

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan Region (KRG) on Tuesday for an official visit to the Kurdish-dominated area.

Upon his arrival, Zarif was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister of Iraq's Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani.

Zarif is leading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation in his visit to Iraq.

Iranian Foreign Minister will then leave Erbil for Sulaymaniyah, another main city in the Kurdish-dominated area.

A conference on exploring ways to develop bilateral economic and commercial relations will also be held with the attendance of Zarif and economic officials and businessmen in Erbil.

Arrived in Baghdad on Jan 13, the Iranian foreign minister has so far visited Prime Minister of Iraq Adil Abdul-Mahdi, President Barham Salih, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohamed al-Halbousi, Head of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Ammar Hakim, Iraqi member of Parliament Hadi Al-Amiri and heads and members of Iraqi religious, political, cultural, ethnical and social bodies.
