Senior MP:Bashar Assad welcomes Iran's role in economic sphere of Syria

The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Parliament highlighted the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had welcomed the role of Iran in the country's economic sphere and said that Assad wanted parliament’s cooperation to overcome the barriers to economic relations.

The Islamic Republic's parliamentary delegation met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a trip to Syria following the continuation of relations between Iran and Damascus after the ISIS crisis.

Referring to the fact that stability in more than 65 percent of the territory of Syria is evident, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran Hashmatullah Falahatpisheh reiterated, “Despite the occurrence of some political and military developments, various countries are engaged in economic activities in stable regions of Syria, which is worth to take into consideration.”

Referring to the need for stability in the area of reconstruction and development of Syria, the parliamentarian elaborated, 'In this regard in the meeting with Syrian president, the emphasis was laid on the necessity of anticipating preferential and incentive privileges for Iranian economic activists, as well as the challenges facing the economic relations and the business activities of our country in Syria was also examined.' 

Falahatpisheh, referring to the Syrian president’s remarks, clarified, 'In this meeting, Bashar al-Assad welcomed Iran's central role in the Syrian economy. Of course, he expressed his complaint on the bureaucracy of the two countries which slowed down the economic relations and demanded the cooperation and interaction of the Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Parliament to remove barriers.”

Iran's parliamentary delegation headed by Falahatpisheh arrived in Damascus on Sunday and has already met with his counterparts in the Syrian People's Assembly.
