Iran calls for boosting ties with Tunisia

The Iranian president says Iran considers developing relations and cooperation with Tunisia as a friendly and Muslim country as significant underlying Tehran is interested in expanding ties and cooperation of the two countries in different political, economic and international contexts, and increasingly strengthening of friendly relations.

AI while receiving the credentials of new ambassador of Tunisia Tariq Beltaib, Hassan Rouhani expressed his hope that the people of Tunisia could work hard to achieve their goals. 

Adding that today, the Tunisian state is witnessing the most calm conditions after the developments that have occurred due to the Arab Spring movement in some countries of the region, the chief of executive branch noted, 'It shows that Tunisia's people and officials have been working with tact, tolerance and wisdom'.

The president went on to say that the conditions of today's world are such that if a country wants to live independently and based on the opinions of its people and not consider the domination of the great powers, it will face a lot of difficulties, but the results are satisfactory.”

Rouhani made the remark that before the Islamic Revolution, Iran had a great base for the United States in the region, highlighting, 'The Iranian people in the Islamic Revolution decided that Iran would not be a base for any superpower and would only be the base for realization of its goals.” 

The high-ranking Iranian official expressed interest of Iran to develop more intimate relations between the two nations and expand mutual relations and cooperation. 

He called for using the capabilities and capacities of the two countries to expand economic relations and encourage the private sectors of Iran and Tunisia to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and expressed that the two countries can expand their relations in different fields of culture, communication and academic cooperation. 

Tariq B Tariq Beltaib, the new Tunisian ambassador while submitting his credentials to the Iranian president underlined on the necessity of expanding and strengthening the relations between the two countries as friends and Muslim brothers as well as using the opportunities and capacities available to this end. 

Referring to the victory of the Tunisian revolution and its reliance on people's power, he cited it as a result of the collective wisdom inspired by the Islamic Revolution of Iran. 

The new Tunisian ambassador to Iran said, 'Rationality, peace and logic are always visible among the people and officials of Iran, and the advancement of affairs are the characteristics of Iranian nation.”
