FM spokesman: Warsaw conference's final statement is 'useless'

Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Friday described the final statement of Middle East security summit in Warsaw as 'useless document' which lacked any 'credibility or decisiveness'.

Qasemi said the final statement of the Middle East security meeting in Warsaw co-hosted by Poland and the US has only been issued by the two organizing countries and lacked any credibility or decisiveness.

'Final statement of Warsaw conference is a `useless' document, released by only two organizing countries, thus `lacking any validity and decisiveness'.'

Despite Washington's widespread efforts to hold a comprehensive meeting and forge a new coalition against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the number of participants and their low levels of participation, coupled with their unwillingness to support any anti-Iran decision, turned the final statement of the summit into a useless document, he added.

'Despite extensive efforts of Washington to hold a comprehensive meeting and form a new coalition against Islamic Republic of Iran, the low number and level of participants, who themselves abstained to join any anti-Iran decision, led the already failed meeting to the conclusion that its final statement was a useless document. It was a text and writing released only by two of the organizing countries and lacked any validity and decisiveness.'

For all of the world's most prominent politicians and the political analysts, this defeat could be imagined and predicted from very beginning of its original design, he added.

'All far-sighted thinkers and outstanding and wise analysts and policy makers worldwide could fully imagine and predict the failure in advance and since the beginning when the initial plan for it was raised.'

Qasemi reiterated that how can a conference dubbed ‘Peace and Security in the Middle East’ would be successful while major regional players including Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Palestine are not in attendance and key countries such as China, Russia and other European and non-European states are also absent or attended in lowest levels.

'How the so-called conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East could be successful when the key players of the region like Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Palestine were not present in it and such important countries as China and Russia and many important European and non-European countries were absent or participated in it merely in a very low and inferior level?'

Qassemi added the “nervous and convulsive” claims made by the US Secretary of State are the best indication which illustrates the breakdown in achieving their goals.

'The nervous and convulsive behavior and conduct of the US secretary of state and vice president, who has in his speeches and interviews openly complained against Europe and insistently asked them out of desperation to leave the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), set as the best proof and evidence on mishap and failure of them to meet their Warsaw meeting goals.'

Qasemi said it was sarcastic that the US organized so-called security and peace conference in Middle East, but fanned the flames of more tensions, war, insecurity, poverty and extremism around the world by unilaterally withdrawing the Iranian nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and many other international agreements.

'On the one hand, the US serves as sponsor of the conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East and on the other hand, withdraws from the JCPOA unilaterally and in violation of all international regulations. Through its 'deceitful' policies the US escalates tension, clashes and support for terrorism, conflict and hostility among nations of the region, thus expanding insecurity, instability, poverty, war and extremism.'

In spite of the many hostile and aggressive policies by US and Zionist regime of Israel, the resistance to create a region that is secure, stable and void of any foreign presence will carry on, Qasemi said.

'Despite all the hostile and aggressive policies of the US and the occupying regime of Quds, campaign and resistance will continue to establish a safe and stable region free of aggressive and alien powers present there.'

He pointed out that the US must halt its ineffective animosities and comprehend the realities of the region.

'The US should soon find out realities of the sensitive region of the world and stop continuing such futile hostilities.'

Officials of certain countries gathered in Warsaw from February 13-14 to discuss the so-called impediments to Middle East peace. It was a conference, which coincided with terrorist incident in Zahedan city of Iran, and a number of European states were not represented there, thus being futile in practice.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Wednesday that a two-day conference being co-hosted by Washington in Warsaw on Iran and the Middle East was 'dead on arrival'.'

'It is another attempt by the United States to pursue an obsession with Iran that is not well-founded,' Zarif told a Tehran news conference.

''I think the fact that they are not aiming to issue any agreed text but rather are just attempting to use their own statement on behalf of everybody else shows they don't have any respect for it themselves,' he said.
