Iran Pres opens 3rd phase of Persian Gulf Star Refinery

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated Monday the third phase of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery (PGSR), the world’s biggest gas condensate refinery located in south of the country.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Rouhani said the country's gasoline production capacity with a Euro-5 standards will rise to 45 million liters per day after the third phase of PGSR goes on stream.

As of today, the PGSR also known as Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery will produce 12 million liters of gas oil, three million liters of liquified gas (liquid gas) and two million liters of jet fuel.

In related development, Chief Executive Officer of the Refinery Mohammad Ali Dadvar said at the ceremony that the daily production of 45 million liters of Euro-5 gasoline at PGSR will provide half of country's gasoline consumption.

The amount of gas oil being produced at the Refinery has been distributed in a number of important Iranian ports including Bandar Abbas, Chabahar and Bushehr since two months ago, Dadvar said.

The president, on a two-day visit, arrived in the Persian Gulf province of Hormuzgan on February 17.
