Leader urges people to protect plants as a culture

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the importance of protecting plants and the green life as a dominant popular culture.

The Leader made the remarks here on Wedensday when he was participating in a special event on the occasion of the National Arbor Day by planting two young trees.

He said all should try to protect the forests and meadows at the same time that the supervisory bodies like the judiciary tries to do their best to prevent destruction of forests.'

The Ayatollah further noted that protecting plants and and green life should be promoted among people to the point it really deserves.

Ayatollah Khamenei planted two saplings to observe the day when people all across the country come out to plant trees.

The Leader added that the day indeed indicates the good tidings for the arrival of spring and the importance of protecting plants.

Referring to the damages inflicted to the country because of neglecting forests, meadows and green plants, for instance by construction, he said that responsible organizations should strongly confront such moves and try to stop them.

On Arbor Day, individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees and many countries mark the occasion.
