Iran leader's condolences over death of people in Shiraz

Iran's Supreme Leader Tuesday expressed condolences over the death of scores of people in the southern flood-hit region.

Unprecedented heavy rains on Monday in the southern city of Shiraz killed at least 18 people and injured and displaced a large number of people.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message to Shiraz's Friday prayer leader Dejkam expressed his grievances over the disaster and wished the injured people a quick recovery.

The leader also called on all officials to mobilize all power and capabilities for relief operations.

The crisis has coincided with the two-week new year holidays that is considered as the peak of trips in Iranian provinces.

Ayatollah Khamenei offered his condolences to people of Shiraz over the loss of their loved ones.
