Supreme leader approves using NDF for covering flood damages

Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Monday issued permission for funding a part of the budget needed for reparations of flood disaster to be drawn from the National Development Fund (NDF).

In response to a request by Iran's President Hassan Rouhani to take specific amount of money from NDF for reconstruction of the damages caused by flood disaster. 

Meanwhile, the Supreme Leader called on all responsible organizations and bodies to take prompt measures to recover the heavy losses inflicted on flood-affected people, particularly the farmers.

He noted that after damage assessment, drawing from NDF is permitted in case other legal financial sources are not sufficient.

The leader also suggested a series of advices with regard to implementing an integrated management system, coordination, persistence, monitoring, taking preventive measures, accelerating reconstruction, establishing a comprehensive, reliable data base composed of all entities affected by the floods, precise damage assessment, plans with exact timing and list of priorities, supplying the urgent needs of flood-affected people, farmers and businesses and a set of measures for quick and safe reconstruction of damaged buildings.

Unprecedented heavy rains have caused flash floods across Iran. The flooding, landslides and dams' spillovers claimed the lives of at least 76 people and left thousands homeless.
