Zarif, UNGA chief meet in New York

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with the Head of United Nations General Assembly María Fernanda Espinosa in New York on Wednesday.

During the meeting, visiting Zarif thanked for holding the meeting on multilateralism and diplomacy for peace.

Espinosa, for her part, appreciated Iran for its active presence in the meeting.

Earlier, Zarif sat down for talks with Secretary General Antonio Guterres wherein he said a range of issues, including bilateral issues, US illegal measures on Palestine, recognizing Golan Heights and Beit ul-Moqaddas, Syrian crisis and Yemen were discussed.

“We also dealt with US anti-Iran moves as well as all the issues faced not the region alone; rather the UN is also engaged with them,” he said. 

Zarif also attended the Asian Society in New York and answered questions on a range of issues such as JCPOA, talks with the US and regional issues.

In a statement on Wednesday, Zarif provided the world with a list of US unilateral acts, stressing that Iran has always supported multilateralism and diplomacy for peace.

Talking with non-state political activists and interviews with different US media are among the other programs of Iranian minister during the ongoing trip.
