Rouhani: Iran urges moderation, rationality in int’l relations

President Hassan Rouhani on Monday described Iran-Qatar ties as brotherly and in favor regional states, saying that Iran favors moderation and rationality in international relations.

In a telephone talk with Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, he underlined Iran’s interest to promote ties with all regional states, including Qatar, saying that there is no obstacle in the way of boosting cooperation in the political and economic fields.

Noting that Iran is ready for cooperation in any act helping promote regional peace and calm, Rouhani hoped that regional problems would be solved through dialogue.

Congratulating arrival of fasting month of Ramadhan, he added, “We proved on the hard days we will stay alongside Qatari brothers and we are ready to continue cooperation with the friendly and brotherly country.”

Iran favors dominance of moderation and rationality in the international relations, he said, noting that current regional developments have been complicated by the US illegal policies which may bring about adverse effect on regional states.

The US is seeking to create instability in the region through imposing limitations on Iran’s oil exports, he said, hoping that the region would experience stability and security through friendly political cooperation.

Rouhani also described Zionist regime’s attacks on Gaza in the fasting month of Ramadhan as worrying, saying that the Islamic states are needed to prevent massacre of the innocent Palestinians through unity and pressuring the regime.

Qatari emir, for his part, congratulated the Iranian president, government and nation on the arrival of fasting month of Ramadhan, saying that Qatari nation and government are thankful of Iran’s stances and will never forget its kindness in tough times.

Stressing that Doha is prepared to boost ties with Tehran, he said that implementing agreements reached between the two countries as essential.

Referring to escalation of tensions in the region, he said, “We have on several occasions said the Americans that the disputes should be settled through dialogue and Qatar is opposed to any act fanning flames of insecurity in the region.”
