Germany, Iran FMs discuss bilateral ties, nuclear deal in Tehran

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his visiting Germany Counterpart Heiko Maas on Monday held talks on bilateral relations and reviewed the latest developments pertaining to Iran's nuclear deal in Tehran.

The German top diplomat is visiting Iran in the wake of Iranian complaints that the EU partners failed to honor their commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and the Iranian 60-day deadline to the states parties to the JCPOA to remedy the banking and trade ties.

Tehran on the first anniversary of the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal said that it reduces its commitments to the deal due to the inaction of Europe in delivering its pledges on covering the imposed damages.

The German foreign minister will hold a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart.

Maas is also scheduled to talk with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani during his visit to Tehran.
