Rouhani says govt stands by flood-hit people

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated on Saturday that the government has stood by the flood-stricken people in different southeastern cities.

The government spares no efforts to help the flood-hit people, President Rouhani said during his visit to a village in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan which is suffering from flood and its fallout from nine days ago.

During his visit, the president ordered the acceleration of relief operations in the province.

Speaking to people in another village he visited, Rouhani said, he appreciated the Iranian people whom he described as a nation that flaunted their unity when dealing with recent enemies' plots.

People showed their braveness and resistance against the enemies and the Zionists who assassinated Lt General Soleimani, the president noted.

General Soleimani, who was assassinated by the US forces in Iraq on January 3, extended valuable services over the years to the country, Sistan-Baluchestan Province in particular, and the neighboring states as well, the president added.

He further hailed the people who extended condolences to the families of the victims of the Ukrainian airliner crash on January 8 which led to the killing of 176 passengers and crew members aboard.

The president also valued the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Army, Basij (volunteer forces) and all people who joined hand to help those caught up in flood.

Rouhani along with a number of his cabinet members arrived in this southeastern city on Saturday morning to oversee the relief operations underway for the flood-stricken people.
