During the ceremony which was held at Sa'dabad Complex, Tehran Mayor Pirouz Hanachi and Head of Presidential Office Mahmoud Vaezi were present in the planting ceremony.
On Arbor Day individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees and many countries mark the occasion.
The National Day is usually observed in the spring equinox.
