Iran terms US seizure of IRIB domains an attempt to disrupt freedom of expression

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Wednesday that the US seizure of the domains of IRIB websites is an example of US systematic effort to disrupt freedom of expression and make silent the independent voices in media space.

Khatibzadeh’s comments come hours after the United States seized domains owned by Iranian websites affiliated to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

The continuation of such double standards by Washington is shameful, the spokesman said.

“The current US administration has exactly followed the path of the previous US administration, and this policy will only lead to a double defeat for Washington,” he added.

Rejecting this illegal and bullying act, Khatibzadeh said that Iran will follow up the case from legal channels.
