President Raisi: Iran's policy to expand ties with Latin American countries

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi described relations with Venezuela as friendly and developing, and said that the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop meaningful relations with the developing countries, especially those that seek to maintain their independence against the hegemonic countries.

President Ebrahim Raisi received the visiting Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia for a meeting in Tehran on Monday. 

Latin America, especially Venezuela, is one of the priorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran's economic diplomacy, and Iran is determined to develop its relations with these countries, President Raisi noted.

Stressing the need to develop Tehran-Caracas relations in various fields, Raisi said that a clear and long-term plan should be planned to develop bilateral ties so that the prospects for relations move towards maximum strengthening.

Thanking Venezuela's cooperation with Iran in international forums, he added that with the long-term cooperation plan between the two states, there is a clear vision for expanding and deepening relations.

Referring to the upcoming visit of the Venezuelan President to Tehran in the near future, Raisi said that during this visit new steps will be taken for long-term cooperation between the two states.

The Venezuelan foreign minister, for his part, said that the two friendly countries of Iran and Venezuela are united against the hegemonic powers and those who want to harm the independence of these two countries.

Venezuelan FM called Iran an important and influential country in the region, saying that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, along with Iran, is committed to defending multilateralism and countering the US intervention.

Stressing the need to expand relations between the two countries, he noted that developing a long-term relations plan between the two states can be effective in achieving this goal, and Venezuela is ready to develop relations in all areas with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia arrived in Tehran to meet with Iran's high-ranking officials on Monday.
