Intelligence Ministry: Sensitive defense center main target of Mossad spy team

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry on Wednesday released new details about an Israeli-linked spy team it arrested recently, saying the group intended to carry out an explosion in one of sensitive Iranian defense centers.

The Ministry announced the arrest on July 23 and said that the network had worked for the Zionist regime’s spy agency, Mossad, and were on a mission of carrying out terrorist acts inside Iran. But they were arrested before conducting any acts of sabotage.

In its newly-released statement, the Intelligence Ministry said that the main target of the team was a sensitive defense center where they intended to carry out an explosion, and to that aim, they had designed the most complicated methods to geographically identify the target and cause extensive destruction to it.

The members of the network belong to the Komala terrorist group, the statement said, adding that they were directly chosen by the group’s head Abdullah Mohtadi and were introduced to Mossad.

The statement also said that the network had transferred their vast amount of equipment to Iran through Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

The equipment, according to the Intelligence Ministry, included eight powerful bombs aimed at blowing up the main target and eight smaller bombs to destroy the devices used in the operation.

Several handguns as well as cellphones, laptops, fake identification cards, make-up tools and a significant amount of money in Iranian and foreign currencies were among the equipment too.

In its statement, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry warned the Zionist regime that its latest operation, although defeated, will not go unanswered.
