Iran culture minister urges Islamic states’ media to counter Islamophobia

Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, has called on media in Islamic countries to integrate all their capabilities to fight Islamophobia.

Esmaili made the remarks in a meeting held with Bangladeshi Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hasan Mahmud on the sidelines of a conference in Turkiye.

The Iranian minister had flown to Turkiye to attend the 12th Conference of the Ministers of Information of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.

In the meeting, Esmaili called for signing a mutual agreement on cultural cooperation between Tehran and Dhaka.

For his part, the Bangladeshi minister referred to common language and religion as reasons for historical relations between Bangladesh and Iran.

The 12th Conference of the Information Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Istanbul on October 21-22.
