Speaking at a Saturday session of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters, Raisi called on the officials to tighten the precautionary measures regarding the passengers coming from infected zones.
Pointing to the rise in the number of COVID cases in various countries from East Asia to Europe and the Americas, Raisi stressed the need to control the points of entry strictly and carry out the necessary tests.
The president also ordered the Health Ministry to prepare and furnish the vaccination centers, so that all Iranians would receive a booster dose at least 6 months after their previous jab.
Hailing the Iranian scientists for developing six types of coronavirus vaccine inside the country, the president said over 156 million doses of COVID vaccine have been administered to Iranians so far.
According to the World Health Organization, over 3.7 million new cases of coronavirus were reported across the world during the week of December 12 to 18, 2022.
The number of new weekly deaths from COVID stood at above 10,400. In the last 28 days, over 13.7 million cases and over 40,000 new fatalities were reported globally.
As of December 18, over 649 million confirmed cases and over 6.6 million deaths have been reported globally.
