S. Korea ambassador summoned to Iran Foreign Ministry

Iran's foreign ministry on Wednesday summoned South Korea's Ambassador to Tehran Yun Kang-Hyeon in reaction to the South Korean president’s recent interventionist remarks in the United Arab Emirates.

The South Korean ambassador was informed about Iran’s strong protest against the South Korean president’s recent interventionist remarks in the United Arab Emirates.

During the meeting with Yun Kang-Hyeon on Wednesday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister on Legal Affairs Reza Najafi pointed to the deep-rooted and friendly relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with most of the Persian Gulf countries, terming the South Korean president's remarks about Iran and UAE as interfering and in line with undermining peace and stability in the region.

Recalling South Korea's unfriendly approach, including blocking the Iranian nation's banking resources, Najafi stressed that South Korea's failure to take effective action to solve the mentioned problems would lead Iran to review its relations with South Korea.

The deputy foreign minister also called the South Korean president's recent comments on the possibility of developing a nuclear weapon inconsistent with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and called for an explanation by the South Korean side.

The South Korean ambassador stated that he will convey Iran’s protest to the authorities in Seoul.
