Astana to host 18th edition of Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee

The Kazakh capital city of Astana is to host an 18th round of Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee meetings on January 24-25, 2023.

According to Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Jihad (MAJ), Iran’s Agriculture Minister Javad Sadati-Nejad will lead the Iranian delegation attending the meeting in Astana.

During the intergovernmental meeting official from Iran and Kazakhstan are scheduled to discuss various issues of common interest between the two countries including banking, transportation and cargo transit, agriculture, trade and energy.

MAJ figures show trade between Iran and Kazakhstan reached $450 million in value terms the first 10 months of 2022.

Iran’s exports to Kazakhstan rose by 26.5% year on year in January-October last year to $167 million while imports from the country reached $283 million, a 15% increase compared to the same previous period.

The MAJ had hosted a 17th edition of Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Committee in Tehran in February 2022.
