Iran's Mehran customs resumes trade activities

Director-General of Customs Administration of the western province of Ilam announces that Mehran customs trading activity has been resumed following a short hiatus due to the Arbaeen trek.

Mehran border customs trade activity had a short pause due to the high volume of traffic during Arbaeen marches, Rouhollah Gholami told IRNA on Monday.

As much as 1.3 million metric tons of goods worth of $746 million have been exported to Iraq through the Mehran border crossing during the first five months of the current Iranian year (starting on March 21), which indicates a 15% rise compared to the corresponding period last year, he added.

He said that it is expected that nearly 500 trucks carrying exporting goods will pass from this border daily.

Mehran which is located 230 km distance from Baghdad is Iran’s closest border city to the Iraqi capital, Bagdad.
