Iran determined to expand ties with Central Asia: Raisi

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said that Iran's government has put on the agenda developing relations with Central Asia.

Improving relations with neighboring countries is the main priority of the government's foreign policy, Raisi told reporters before leaving Tehran for Tajikistan on Wednesday.

Statistics show that the level of relations between Iran and Tajikistan has improved, he added.

This trip aims to strengthen political, economic, and cultural relations between Tehran and Dushanbe.

Following his visit to Dushanbe, he will make a trip to Uzbekistan to take part in the 16th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The trip to Tashkent is at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is also the rotating chairman of the ECO.

The economic link between ECO members will be the most important topic of the meeting at the 16th ECO Summit, he noted.
