Cuban President due in Iran tomorrow

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel is scheduled to travel to the Iranian capital city of Tehran tomorrow.

Cuban President Diaz-Canel will leave Havana for Tehran at the head of a high-ranking economic and political delegation on Sunday evening.

President Diaz-Canel's visit to Tehran will take place upon an official invitation by his Iranian counterpart President Ebrahim Raisi.

The official welcoming ceremony of the Cuban President will be held at Sadabad Palace in Tehran, where the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will receive his Cuban counterpart.

It is scheduled that after the official welcoming ceremony, private meetings of the two presidents, the joint meeting of high-ranking delegations, and the signing ceremony of documents and memorandum of understanding will be held, and then the two presidents will explain the achievements of the consultations in the joint press conference.

Also, the Cuban President will visit the exhibition of capabilities and the latest technological achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the Pasteur Institute, which is cooperating with Cuba in the field of medicine.

The visit is the Cuban President’s first trip to Iran since the late Cuban President Fidel Castro visited in June 2001.

Earlier on President Raisi’s visit to Cuba on June 2023, the high-ranking officials of the two countries signed 6 cooperation documents and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in the areas of judicial jurisdiction, comprehensive political cooperation, customs relations, and cooperation in the field of information technology.
