Iran and Uzbekistan agree to reduce transit charges for trucks

Deputy Roads and Rural Development Minister Shahriar Afandizadeh has announced that Iran’s collaboration with Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will have a significant impact on transit through the North-South and East-West corridors.

Referring to his meeting with Mamanbiy Omarov, First Deputy Transport Minister of Uzbekistan, Afandizadeh said that the Uzbek side expressed interest of the Uzbek transport minister to visit Iran's railway, road and port infrastructures soon.

In this meeting, the two sides exchanged views on road cooperation and reducing the charges of trucks inside the territory of the two countries.

He added that they agreed to reduce these charges as soon as possible.

It is expected that with the upcoming visit of the Minister of Transportation of Uzbekistan to Iran, his visit to the infrastructures, and his meeting with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, a new chapter can be opened for the promotion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of transportation.
